Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe
Van Der Rohe was one of the key pioneers of the International style or Modern architecture. He utilized such materials as industrial and tubular steel, fine leather and woven cane. Influences of the movement supported by designers such as Le Corbusier and Walter Gropius began when they decided to move away from detailed gothic and elizebethan styles, and begin designing more modern with clean cut forms and lines. These styles were designed to be purely functional, projecting clean aesthetics and being more versatile for the 20th century.
Le Corbusier
Le Corbusier or otherwise known as Charles Edouard Jeanneret Gris, was one of the pioneers of International style. His furniture designs were very modern and usually consisted of polished steel and fine leathers. His designs appear very light as they components support one another up. They were very revolutionary for the time and inspired others to follow.
Charles and Ray Eames
The Eames' worked as designers in America for over four decades. Their prominent designs were ahead of their time and utilized various manufacturing techniques. Their lounge chair, 1956, was made of moulded plywood, elegant leather and aluminium. The streamlined design is to this day considered and reproduced as a popular product with feelings of professionalism. They made many contributions to furniture and product design, as well as graphic and art.
Poul Kjaerholm
Kjaerholm's furniture designs are smart modern and have inspiration from carpentry and simplistic forms. The danish designer utilizes materials such as local woods that are in abundance in his designs. As well as construction materials he uses elegant finishes such as polished steel and leather. His work is inspired by skills from his education as an employed carpenter.
He also experiments with different combinations of materials such as stainless steel and woven cane. His projects are ergonomic aswell as being attractive modern designs.

Tom Dixons designs reflect cultural influences of the world around him. His Pylon
chair, 1959, is inspired from electricity towers.
Ross Lovegrove
Ross Lovegrove is a prominent designer known for his experimental techniques.
His designs are very ergonomic and possess organic forms as they embrace nature.
His furniture designs experiment with various and alternative materials. Ross Lovegrove's "go chair", the firstchair made of magnesium, was a very radical and expensive production process.
His furniture designs show that trends have evolved into experimental and ergonomic forms.
